The 2026 Miami Open quarterfinal draw is set, and the carnage that defined the opening week has produced one of the most lopsided brackets in recent Masters 1000 history. With Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz, and Sebastian Korda all eliminated, the top half of the men’s draw features no player ranked inside the world’s top 20, while the bottom half is anchored by Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.

Tuesday’s Round of 16 delivered more drama as Jiri Lehecka ended Fritz’s run and 19-year-old qualifier Martin Landaluce stunned Korda, the man who knocked out Alcaraz. The quarter-finals begin on Wednesday evening at Hard Rock Stadium, with all four men’s matches scheduled across Wednesday and Thursday.

Round of 16 Results

Tuesday produced a full set of R16 results that reshaped the draw once again. The top half lost both of its remaining big names, while the bottom half held to form.

Match Winner Score
[21] Lehecka vs [6] Fritz Lehecka 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2
[Q] Landaluce vs [32] Korda Landaluce 2-6, 7-6(6), 6-4
[22] Paul vs [29] Etcheverry Paul 6-1, 6-3
[28] Fils vs [24] Vacherot Fils 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4
[18] Cerundolo vs [31] Humbert Cerundolo 6-4, 6-3
[3] Zverev vs Halys Zverev 7-6(4), 7-6(1)
[19] Tiafoe vs Atmane Tiafoe 6-4, 1-6, 6-4
[2] Sinner vs Michelsen Sinner 7-5, 7-6(4)

The headline result was Landaluce’s comeback win over Korda. The 19-year-old Spaniard, ranked world No 151, lost the first set before fighting back to win in three, becoming the lowest-ranked Miami Open quarter-finalist since Jim Grabb (No 185) in 1994. Lehecka was similarly impressive against Fritz, breaking the American’s serve four times in the deciding set. Men’s Quarterfinal Draw

QF Player 1 vs Player 2
QF1 [21] Jiri Lehecka vs [Q] Martin Landaluce
QF2 [28] Arthur Fils vs [22] Tommy Paul
QF3 [3] Alexander Zverev vs [18] Francisco Cerundolo
QF4 [2] Jannik Sinner vs [19] Frances Tiafoe

The draw split is stark. The top half (QF1 and QF2) features no player ranked inside the world’s top 20, with the highest seed being 21st-seeded Lehecka. The bottom half features the two remaining heavyweights in Sinner (2) and Zverev (3). Whoever emerges from the top half will have a semi-final against an opponent they would not have expected to face at this stage.

Quarterfinal Matches to Watch

Jiri Lehecka [21] vs Martin Landaluce [Q]

This is a match neither player could have dreamed of at the start of the tournament: a quarter-final at a Masters 1000 event with a semi-final place guaranteed for the winner and no top-20 seed standing in their way.

Lehecka has been one of the most impressive players in the draw this week. The Czech has not been broken or hit a double fault in the entire tournament, a remarkable statistic that underlines the quality of his serving and the composure of his groundstrokes. His three-set win over Fritz was a statement performance, and at 23 he has the game and the temperament to go deep.

Landaluce’s run has been the feel-good story of the tournament. The qualifier came through three rounds of qualifying before upsetting Khachanov and then Korda in the main draw. His aggressive baseline game has drawn comparisons with fellow Spaniard Alcaraz, though the 19-year-old is still raw and may struggle to maintain the intensity over a best-of-three against a more established opponent. At world No 151, he is playing with house money.

Lehecka should be the clear favourite. His serve has been near-untouchable and his level has risen with each round. Landaluce’s run has been extraordinary, but the step up in quality from Korda to Lehecka in current form is significant.

Arthur Fils [28] vs Tommy Paul [22]

This is the most evenly matched quarter-final on paper and could be the best match of the round. Fils arrives having produced the most destructive performance of the tournament so far, demolishing Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-0, 6-1 in the third round before edging Vacherot in three sets. The 20-year-old Frenchman is 12-2 across his last three tournaments, with his only losses coming to Alcaraz and Zverev.

Paul was the most dominant R16 winner, dismantling Etcheverry 6-1, 6-3 in just 59 minutes. The American has been a model of consistency in 2026 and his game is well suited to these Miami hard courts. At 28, Paul brings experience that the younger Fils may lack in a pressure situation.

The contrast in styles makes this fascinating. Fils’ raw power and explosive shot-making against Paul’s steadier, percentage-based game. This is the weakest quarter of the draw, and the winner will fancy their chances of reaching the final from a semi-final against Lehecka or Landaluce.

Alexander Zverev [3] vs Francisco Cerundolo [18]

Zverev has navigated his draw efficiently, if not always convincingly. The German needed tiebreaks in both sets against Halys in the R16, winning 7-6(4), 7-6(1), and has yet to truly hit top gear in Miami. That said, his form at Indian Wells, where he reached the semi-finals, suggests the level is there when needed.

Cerundolo has been the quiet achiever of the draw. The Argentine beat Humbert comfortably in the R16 and earlier produced a stunning 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 upset of Indian Wells runner-up Daniil Medvedev. This is his fourth quarter-final appearance in five attempts at the Miami Open, so the conditions clearly suit him.

Zverev’s record against South American clay-court specialists on hard courts is strong, and Cerundolo will need to find a way to disrupt the German’s serve to have any chance. Zverev should progress, but if he serves as tentatively as he did against Halys, Cerundolo has the quality to make it competitive.

Jannik Sinner [2] vs Frances Tiafoe [19]

The headline match of the quarter-finals and potentially the tie of the round. Sinner is bidding to complete the Sunshine Double after his dominant Indian Wells title run, and his record at the Miami Open speaks for itself: three finals in the last four editions, including his 2024 title.

Tiafoe is the most dangerous floater in the draw. The American saved two match points against defending champion Mensik in a breathtaking third-round thriller, winning the deciding tiebreak 13-11, and has an 8-2 record in his last 10 matches. Playing on home soil in front of a raucous Miami crowd, Tiafoe will bring an energy and intensity that few opponents can match.

Sinner leads the head-to-head 3-0 and has never lost a set to Tiafoe, but all three meetings came in 2023. The American is a different player now, and this hard-court setting plays to his strengths. Sinner should still be the clear favourite, but if any player in the draw can produce a shock in the quarter-finals, it is Tiafoe in this atmosphere.

Arthur Fils to beat Tommy Paul @ 6/5

Fils has been one of the form players of the tournament and, arguably, the 2026 season. His demolition of Tsitsipas 6-0, 6-1 was the most emphatic result of the draw, and his 12-2 record across his last three events shows this is no flash in the pan. Paul is a solid opponent, but Fils’ explosive power and improving consistency make him the value pick here. The Frenchman’s path to the final avoids both Sinner and Zverev entirely, adding further incentive to back him at this stage. Back Fils to beat Paul @ 6/5 with Bet365.

Jannik Sinner to win the tournament @ 1/2

The price has shortened since the R16, but Sinner remains the standout bet. He won Indian Wells without dropping a set, has reached three of the last four Miami Open finals (winning in 2024), and the draw has opened up spectacularly in his favour. Tiafoe in the quarter-final is his toughest remaining test, and even that looks manageable given their 3-0 head-to-head record. At 1/2 the margin is thin, but the probability of Sinner lifting the trophy is higher than any other player in the draw by a significant distance. Back Sinner to win the Miami Open with Bet365.

Jiri Lehecka to reach the semi-finals @ 4/9

Lehecka faces qualifier Landaluce for a semi-final place, and the Czech has been near-flawless in Miami. He has not been broken once in the tournament, has not hit a single double fault, and dismantled Fritz in the R16. Landaluce’s run has been remarkable, but the step up from Korda to a Lehecka in this form is considerable. This is one of the safest bets of the round. Back Lehecka to reach the semi-finals with Bet365.

Miami Open Past Winners

Year Champion Runner-up
2025 Jakub Mensik Novak Djokovic
2024 Jannik Sinner Grigor Dimitrov
2023 Daniil Medvedev Jannik Sinner
2022 Carlos Alcaraz Casper Ruud
2021 Hubert Hurkacz Jannik Sinner

Sinner’s Miami record is extraordinary: three finals in four years, including his 2024 title. He also reached the 2023 final where he fell to Medvedev. The Italian clearly thrives in these conditions, and the draw has never been more favourable for him to add a second Miami title.
