Jack Draper looks to reach round three at the US Open for a third straight year when he faces Facundo Diaz Acosta on Thursday.

The British number one has quickly gotten to grips with Flushing Meadows, where he demonstrated gradual progression across his first two appearances.

After reaching round three on debut in 2022, Draper went one round better the following year, and would love another deep run this time around.

The 25th seed was on course for a dominant straight-sets victory over Zhang Zhizhen in round one, before the Chinese was forced to retire through injury.

Acosta prevailed in straight sets to earn his first match win at his fifth slam, putting Hugo Gaston to the sword in the process.

The Argentine, who won his first career ATP title in Buenos Aires earlier this season, will now be eager to build on that momentum.

Carlos Alcaraz or Botic van de Zandschlup awaits the winner of this clash in the US Open third round.

The match gets under way at around 8pm BST (3pm local time) on Thursday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Court 5.

Like Acosta, Draper also landed his maiden ATP silverware earlier this year.

That came in Stuttgart during a strong grass-court season, in which he also defeated reigning champion Alcaraz at Queen’s.

Also a runner-up in Adelaide this term, he is fresh from beating Stefanos Tsitsipas and Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the Cincinnati quarter-finals last time out.

With all that momentum, Draper will fancy his chances of advancing to the last 32 here.
