Wimbledon 2026 Day 9 Predictions: Quarter-Finals, Order of Play & Best Bets
The quarter-finals are here, and Britain has a genuine reason to dream. Wildcard Arthur Fery produced the run of the tournament on Monday, outlasting Grigor Dimitrov 7-5, 3-6, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(7) in a five-set epic to reach his first Grand Slam quarter-final. He was joined in the last eight by Flavio Cobolli, who ended Alex de Minaur’s fortnight, and Taylor Fritz, a straight-sets winner over Alexander Bublik. Alexander Zverev looked set to complete the men’s line-up before bad light halted his match with Jiří Lehečka — the second seed leads by two sets and a break. In the women’s draw, Jasmine Paolini, Linda Nosková, Marta Kostyuk and Elise Mertens all booked quarter-final places.
Day 9 delivers the first four quarter-finals. Defending champion Jannik Sinner headlines against 36-year-old debutant Jan-Lennard Struff, Novak Djokovic chases more history against Felix Auger-Aliassime, and there are all-American and momentum-charged women’s ties to settle. Wimbledon 2026 Day 9 order of play
Centre Court (from 1:30pm BST)
- [4] Jessica Pegula v [7] Coco Gauff
- [3] Felix Auger-Aliassime v [7] Novak Djokovic
No.1 Court (from 1:00pm BST)
- [1] Jannik Sinner v Jan-Lennard Struff
- [14] Naomi Osaka v [10] Karolina Muchová
The suspended fourth-round match between Alexander Zverev and Jiří Lehečka resumes earlier in the day, with Zverev leading 6-4, 7-5, 3-3.
Jannik Sinner v Jan-Lennard Struff
Sinner has moved through the draw without alarm and remains the man to beat on current form. Struff, at 36 the oldest first-time Grand Slam quarter-finalist of the professional era, is a wonderful story and owns a serve that can trouble anyone on grass — but he has never taken a set off Sinner. The world No.1’s return and baseline control should prove far too consistent over the best of five.
Best bet: Jannik Sinner to win in straight sets — around 4/6 with Betfred (approx odds).
Novak Djokovic v Felix Auger-Aliassime
Djokovic is two wins from a record-extending title and has looked sharper with each round. Auger-Aliassime has quietly built a strong grass season and will back his serve, but the Canadian has never beaten Djokovic at a major. Expect the seven-time champion’s returning and his ability to raise his level in the decisive games to settle a match that could still go the distance.
Best bet: Novak Djokovic to win — around 4/6 with Ladbrokes (approx odds).
Jessica Pegula v Coco Gauff
An all-American quarter-final, and a first meeting between the two at this stage of a Slam. Pegula’s clean, flat hitting is well suited to the surface, but Gauff’s athleticism and improved serve have carried her through a tricky draw. In a tight contest, the seventh seed’s ability to defend and turn defence into offence gives her the edge.
Best bet: Coco Gauff to win — around 8/13 with Coral (approx odds).
Also today
The last quarter-final spot on Centre goes to Naomi Osaka against Karolina Muchová on No.1 Court. Osaka arrives on a high after dismantling world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in the last 16, while Muchová’s variety and slice make her one of the trickiest opponents in the women’s game — a genuine toss-up. Earlier, Alexander Zverev will look to close out his rain-delayed fourth-round win over Jiří Lehečka to book a last-eight date with Taylor Fritz.
