Day 4 went to form. Defending women’s champion Iga Świątek (6-1, 6-3 v Karolína Plíšková) and 2023 winner Elena Rybakina (6-1, 6-2 v Caty McNally) barely broke sweat into round three, while sixth seed Amanda Anisimova needed 20 aces to survive Sofia Kenin 6-2, 4-6, 7-6. Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Matteo Berrettini and fifth seed Alex de Minaur all advanced on the men’s side, and Spanish teenager Rafael Jódar came from two-sets-to-one down to beat Pablo Carreño Busta 3-6, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Now the third round arrives and the top of both draws is on show: Novak Djokovic, top seed Aryna Sabalenka, defending champion Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff all headline, with Naomi Osaka and Brazil’s João Fonseca among the day’s box-office outsiders. Full previews and order of play below — and if you’re building a slip, see our Wimbledon Day 5 acca tips.

Day 5 Predictions & Best Bets

Arthur Rinderknech v Novak Djokovic

Djokovic opens Centre Court chasing more history on his best surface, and through two rounds he has looked settled and economical. Rinderknech is a big-serving Frenchman who can steal a set on a fast court if his first serve fires, but he has never beaten a top-10 player at a Slam and Djokovic’s return neutralises exactly the free points Rinderknech relies on. Expect the seven-time champion to control the baseline exchanges and move through in straight sets.

Best bet: Djokovic to win in straight sets — approx 8/13 with William Hill.

Aryna Sabalenka v Jeļena Ostapenko

The pick of the women’s day, and not the routine outing the seeding suggests. Ostapenko is one of the few players who has consistently troubled the world No.1 — her flat, first-strike hitting rushes Sabalenka and turns rallies into a coin-flip. On grass, where the ball skids and both women take huge cuts, this could be a shootout. Sabalenka remains the rightful favourite, but backing her to stroll is risky; the value is in a competitive, high-tempo match rather than the outright price.

Best bet: Over 21.5 total games — approx 5/6 with Sky Bet.

Jannik Sinner v Jenson Brooksby

Sinner defends his title as the clear favourite with Carlos Alcaraz absent, and he has dropped little through the opening rounds. Brooksby is a clever, disruptive American whose change of pace and flat backhand can unsettle rhythm players, but he lacks a grass-court weapon to hurt the top seed over three sets and Sinner’s depth off both wings should suffocate the variety. The champion has too much for him.

Best bet: Sinner to win in straight sets — approx 4/7 with Betway.
