The second Monday at Wimbledon opens up a fascinating bottom half of the draw, and it does so with the tournament already missing its biggest name. World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka was bundled out on Sunday, No.14 seed Naomi Osaka producing a near-flawless display to win 6-2, 7-6 and blow the women’s event wide open. Osaka now faces Karolína Muchová in the last eight, while Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff will settle an all-American quarter-final on the other side. In the men’s draw, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic and Félix Auger-Aliassime all came through to line up quarter-finals against Jan-Lennard Struff and each other.
Day 8 completes the fourth round. Alexander Zverev headlines on Centre Court, Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz carry the load on No.1 Court, and Britain’s last player standing, wildcard Arthur Fery, gets his moment against Grigor Dimitrov. Alexander Zverev v Jiří Lehečka
The match of the day closes Centre Court. Zverev has yet to drop serve on a bad day and reached the fourth round without dropping a set, but Lehečka is exactly the kind of opponent who can hurt him — the Czech was a Queen’s Club finalist last year and hits through the grass as cleanly as anyone left in the draw. Expect a tight opening set or two before the second seed’s greater consistency on the big points tells. Zverev’s return depth should eventually break Lehečka down.

Alex de Minaur v Flavio Cobolli
De Minaur’s movement and low, skiddy ball travel beautifully on grass, and he has looked sharp all fortnight. Cobolli reached the last eight here in 2025 and is no pushover, but the Italian relies more on rhythm from the baseline — something de Minaur’s scrambling and change of pace are built to disrupt. This has the makings of a four-setter, with the fifth seed edging the key moments.

Jasmine Paolini v Alexandra Eala
The feel-good story of the women’s draw runs into serious pedigree. Eala, the first Filipina to reach the second week of a major, has been fearless, but Paolini’s court coverage and experience on the biggest stages make her a deserved favourite. If Eala’s forehand fires early she can win a set; over three, the 13th seed’s steadiness should carry her through. Worth a look for the underdog to grab a set.

Taylor Fritz faces the always-unpredictable Alexander Bublik in a big-serving shootout on No.1 Court, while Madison Keys meets Linda Nosková in the same session. On No.2 Court, 12th seed Marta Kostyuk opens against Ashlyn Krueger, followed by Marie Bouzková against Elise Mertens. And on Centre, all eyes will be on Arthur Fery as the British wildcard takes on the vastly experienced Grigor Dimitrov.
