Team Europe Win the Laver Cup 2026

Team Europe are the Laver Cup 2026 champions. They beat Team World 13-5 at The O2 in London, and Alexander Zverev clinched the trophy on Sunday by beating Learner Tien 7-6(3), 6-3.

It is Europe’s sixth title in nine editions, and it takes the Cup back from Team World, who had won three of the previous four, including 15-9 in San Francisco last year. Yannick Noah, in his second year as Europe captain, lifts the trophy for the first time.

How Europe won it

Europe took three of the four points on Friday. Casper Ruud edged Francisco Cerúndolo 10-8 in a match tie-break, Brandon Nakashima beat Jakub Menšík on his Laver Cup debut, Rafael Jódar beat Alexander Bublik 6-2, 6-3, and Carlos Alcaraz and Menšík won the doubles.

Saturday was the day Team World made a contest of it. Tien beat Flavio Cobolli in a match tie-break, then Alex de Minaur came back against Zverev, who had served for the match at 6-2, 5-4 and held a match point at 9-8 in the deciding tie-break. De Minaur saved it and won 2-6, 7-6(5), 11-9 to put Team World 5-3 up.

The evening session turned it back. Alcaraz saved two match points to beat Taylor Fritz 6-3, 4-6, 13-11 (their head-to-head), and Ruud and Zverev beat Bublik and Nakashima 6-4, 7-6(7) in the doubles to give Europe a 7-5 lead going into Sunday.

With three points on every Sunday match, Europe needed two wins. Cobolli and Menšík beat de Minaur and Fritz 7-5, 6-3 in the opening doubles to make it 10-5, and Zverev finished it against Tien. The last two singles, Alcaraz against de Minaur and Jódar against Fritz, were not needed.

The doubles decided it

The singles were close. Europe won four of the seven singles matches played and Team World won three, which came to seven points against five. The difference was the doubles: Europe won all three rubbers, one on each day, and those were worth six points, almost half of their 13.

Menšík was in two of those three winning pairs, with Alcaraz on Friday and Cobolli on Sunday, which more than made up for his Friday singles defeat to Nakashima.

Zverev closes it again

It is the fourth time Zverev has clinched the Laver Cup, after Chicago in 2018, Geneva in 2019 and Boston in 2021. Playing his seventh edition, he has been part of all six Team Europe wins, owns the most singles wins in the event’s history with eight and is its all-time leading points scorer with 26.

He arrived in London as the US Open champion, having beaten Ben Shelton in the final at Flushing Meadows, and the weekend still needed a response from him. The defeat to de Minaur on Saturday came from a winning position. He answered it the same evening, winning the doubles with Ruud, and then took the clinching singles on Sunday.

What it means

Europe now lead the overall series 6-3. Each of their six players earns $250,000 from the winner-takes-all purse, while Team World’s players receive only their appearance fees, as set out in our Laver Cup prize money guide.

The Laver Cup carries no ATP ranking points, so the Race to Turin is unchanged by the weekend. The tour’s next Masters 1000 event is the Shanghai Masters from 7 to 18 October. The tenth Laver Cup will be played in Los Angeles in 2027.
