Head-to-Head
Djokovic leads their career series 3-1.
How They Got Here
Djokovic beat Nuno Borges 6-3, 7-6(2), came from a set down against the wildcard Yunchaokete Bu, 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-2, and then did the same to the top seed Alexander Zverev, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-final, their first meeting in 16 months (our Djokovic v Zverev head-to-head has the full record). The semi-final against Daniil Medvedev ended with Djokovic leading 7-5, 5-3 when Medvedev was disqualified, so he reaches the final having played one and a half sets on Monday. Our report on the Medvedev disqualification has the details.
De Minaur beat Mariano Navone 7-6(4), 6-2, then won two three-setters, 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-5 against Quentin Halys and 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 against Andrey Rublev. His semi-final against Hubert Hurkacz ended when Hurkacz retired injured, with de Minaur 6-4, 3-2 ahead. Both finalists have therefore had a short semi-final.
What Decides It
Djokovic is 39 and has lost the first set in two of his four matches this week, but he has won both. His return is the main weapon against de Minaur, whose game is built on speed and counter-punching rather than first-strike power, and the 33-0 record shows how well the Beijing courts suit him. De Minaur beat Zverev at the Laver Cup and went from 1-6 to a comfortable win over Rublev, so he can reset after a bad set.
Our view is Djokovic to win. Both men have needed three sets twice this week, so freshness is not an edge for either. If you are looking for a different angle, de Minaur to take a set is the more realistic play than de Minaur to win. For more, see our ATP China Open betting tips.

What Is at Stake
The winner takes 500 ranking points and $764,750. For Djokovic it is a seventh Beijing title and a 34th straight win at the event. For de Minaur it would be his first China Open title and a boost to his chances of reaching the Nitto ATP Finals: Medvedev, who forfeited his points after the disqualification, was holding the last qualifying place on the Race to Turin. Both men play the Shanghai Masters next, where Djokovic is the No. 10 seed and de Minaur the No. 9 seed. Our Shanghai Masters preview has the full draw.
How to Watch in the UK
