Carlos Alcaraz won the Vienna Open on Sunday, beating Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 in the final at the Wiener Stadthalle. The Spaniard, who played on a wildcard as the No. 2 seed, did not drop a set all week. It is the 28th title of his career, his fourth of 2026 and his first in Vienna.
Ten Sets out of Ten
Alcaraz needed a second-set tie-break in four of his five matches, against Karen Khachanov, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Tommy Paul and Daniil Medvedev, and won all four, the longest 13-11 against Basilashvili. The final was his most one-sided match of the week. He took the first set 6-1 against a player who had come through a deciding-set tie-break against the top seed Alexander Zverev the day before.
His Route to the Title
| Round | Opponent | Score |
|---|---|---|
| First round | Karen Khachanov | 6-4, 7-6(5) |
| Second round | Nikoloz Basilashvili | 6-1, 7-6(11) |
| Quarter-finals | Tommy Paul (7) | 6-4, 7-6(2) |
| Semi-finals | Daniil Medvedev (3) | 6-4, 7-6(2) |
| Final | Alex de Minaur (5) | 6-1, 6-4 |
A Fourth Title of 2026
Alcaraz has won the Australian Open, Doha, the Japan Open in Tokyo and now Vienna this season, despite a wrist injury that kept him out of Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. He is the first Spanish champion in Vienna since David Ferrer in 2015. His three earlier titles this year all came outdoors, so Vienna is his first indoor title of 2026.
De Minaur Still Gains Ground
De Minaur, the No. 5 seed, beat Tomáš Macháč, Learner Tien and Matteo Berrettini, then beat Zverev for the first time at a tour event in the semi-finals. He has now lost all seven of his tour-level meetings with Alcaraz. The 330 ranking points for reaching the final add to his total in the Race to Turin, where he is chasing the last place at the ATP Finals with Rafael Jódar.
Straight to Paris
Both finalists have first-round byes at the Paris Masters, which starts on Monday 2 November. Alcaraz, the No. 2 seed, meets the winner of Alex Michelsen and Jiří Lehečka, who lost the Basel final on Sunday. De Minaur, the No. 8 seed, plays Andrey Rublev or Tomás Martín Etcheverry. Their next match pages follow the draw.
