Tuesday’s quarter-final slip came good: three winners and one void. Świątek, Shelton and Rybakina all delivered, and the Gauff leg was voided when Belinda Bencic withdrew injured before their quarter-final — a walkover returns the stake on that selection rather than settling it as a winner. The settled card is below. Semi-final selections follow once Thursday’s order of play is confirmed.

How Saturday’s Slip Landed: 1/4
A bad afternoon. Three of the four went down, and the two we flagged as the safest were among them.
- Iga Świątek beat Marta Kostyuk 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 — a set down, then barely troubled. The one that landed.
- Jessica Pegula lost to Diana Shnaider 3-6, 3-6. No comeback this time; the third seed never got into it.
- Aryna Sabalenka lost to Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-4 in the night session — the world No. 1 out, and the anchor leg gone with her.
- Amanda Anisimova lost to Elina Svitolina 2-6, 4-6. We called this the coin-flip and said to leave it out of a three-leg version. That advice stands up better than the pick did.
Tuesday’s Acca: How the Four Legs Finished — 3 Won, 1 Void
Two from Toronto, two from Montreal. Results are shown against each leg. A walkover voids that leg and returns the stake, so the slip settles as a three-fold.
Leg 1 — Iga Świątek to beat Diana Shnaider — won 6-2, 6-1
Center Court, from 01:00. Shnaider has earned this, and taking out Pegula in straight sets is not a fluke result. But Świątek has now won six of her last seven sets in Toronto and solved a genuinely awkward opponent in Kostyuk after dropping the first. The anchor again, and this time on firmer ground.
Leg 2 — Ben Shelton to beat Jakub Menšík — won 6-3, 6-1
The defending champion is the highest seed left in Montreal and the only one of the pre-tournament fancies still standing. He came through João Fonseca in the last 16, which was the toughest draw anyone in that quarter got. Menšík is a real talent with a Masters title already, so this is no formality — but Shelton’s serve on a quick court, in defence of a title, is the strongest single argument on the card.
Leg 3 — Coco Gauff to beat Belinda Bencic — void (walkover)
Gauff is the world No. 4 and the highest-ranked player left in the Toronto draw after Sabalenka’s exit. Bencic has been excellent this week, beating Taylor Townsend and then Alex Eala, and she is not somebody you want to face with a lead to protect. Gauff’s movement and return should be the difference over three sets.
Leg 4 — Elena Rybakina to beat Naomi Osaka — won 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4
Being straight about this one, as we were last week: this is the coin-flip, and it is the leg most likely to cost you the slip. Two of the biggest hitters in the game, and Osaka has already beaten a world No. 1 this season. Rybakina gets the nod as the second seed and on the better 2026 body of work. If you want a three-leg version, this is the one to leave out.
The one we avoided: Rafael Jódar against Arthur Fils. Jódar won it 7-6(5), 6-3 to reach his first Masters 1000 semi-final, so leaving it alone was the right call for the wrong reason — he was the value, not the danger.
