French Open 2026 Day 6 Predictions, Order of Play & Best Bets

Jonathan Davies in French Open 07 Jun 2026

Day 5 belonged to one moment: world No.1 Jannik Sinner went two sets to love up on Chatrier and lost — Juan Manuel Cerúndolo coming from a set-and-a-bagel down to win 3-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, 6-1. It is the biggest upset of Roland-Garros 2026 so far and the end of Sinner’s 30-match winning streak. Aryna Sabalenka and defending champion Coco Gauff both moved through, but Katie Boulter was edged 7-5, 4-6, 2-6 by Anastasia Potapova to end British singles hopes in Paris. Day 6 brings the bottom-half third round: Novak Djokovic — now the last men’s Grand Slam champion in the draw — meets 19-year-old breakout João Fonseca on Chatrier, four-time champion Iga Swiatek opens against Magda Linette, Alexander Zverev headlines the night session, and Casper Ruud meets Tommy Paul on Suzanne-Lenglen. Below: yesterday’s results, today’s order of play, our best bets and the Day 6 acca.

Day 5 Results: Sinner Stunned, Sabalenka and Gauff Through

The day’s storyline started and ended with world No.1 Jannik Sinner on Chatrier. Up two sets to love and a break, the Italian collapsed against Argentine clay-courter Juan Manuel Cerúndolo, who reeled off the last three sets 7-5, 6-1, 6-1 — the highest seed yet to fall this fortnight and the end of Sinner’s 30-match winning streak. On the same court Aryna Sabalenka was tested in the first set by French wildcard Elsa Jacquemot before pulling away 7-5, 6-2. Defending champion Coco Gauff ground down Mayar Sherif 6-3, 6-2 on Suzanne-Lenglen. Britain’s Katie Boulter took the opening set against Anastasia Potapova on Court 6 before fading 7-5, 4-6, 2-6 — Britain are now out of the singles. Naomi Osaka also moved through to her first Roland-Garros third round since 2018, beating Donna Vekic in straight sets. The Day 5 acca died on its first leg.

French Open Day 6 Best Bets

Djokovic to beat Fonseca

The day’s match and a true generational gap — 38-year-old Novak Djokovic, the last Slam champion in the men’s draw, against 19-year-old João Fonseca, who came from two sets down to set this up. They’ve never played. Djokovic has spent six-plus hours on court through two four-set wins; Fonseca has the firepower off both wings to hit through anyone if given depth. Djokovic’s age is real but on best-of-five he still has the court craft and serve to manage tempo. Price is short of where it would have been a year ago — it’s still the right side. Tip: Djokovic to win (around 1/3).

Swiatek banker against Linette

Four-time Roland-Garros champion Iga Swiatek opens Chatrier against fellow Pole Magda Linette. Linette is a solid tour pro, but Swiatek’s Paris record is generational and she’s already cleaned up two straight-sets wins this week. Opening day session is her spot. Tip: Swiatek to win (around 1/12).

Zverev to ease past Halys in the night session

Alexander Zverev looked clinical against Macháč in R2 and gets the Chatrier night session against French wildcard Quentin Halys, ranked outside the top 100. Crowd will be loud, level gap on best-of-five clay is wide. Tip: Zverev to win (around 1/10).

French Open Day 6 Acca

Four bottom-half R3 favourites, combined into one slip:

Leg Selection Approx Odds
1 Iga Swiatek to win 1/12
2 Alexander Zverev to win 1/10
3 Mirra Andreeva to win 1/5
4 Novak Djokovic to win 1/3

Combined: around 11/5. Sinner’s exit yesterday is a reminder no leg is automatic at this stage. Djokovic is the live leg here — Fonseca has the weapons — but the other three are short-priced favourites against lower-ranked opposition.
