French Open 2026 Day 9 Predictions, Order of Play & Best Bets
Both the women’s headline names are gone. A day after defending champion Coco Gauff fell, four-time champion Iga Swiatek was dismantled 7-5, 6-1 by Marta Kostyuk in the Day 8 Round of 16 — and 19-year-old João Fonseca, fresh from beating Djokovic, downed Casper Ruud to reach his first Grand Slam quarter-final. Alexander Zverev marched on as the man to beat. Day 9 is the top-half Round of 16, and it ends with a heavyweight night session: world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka v Naomi Osaka — two four-time Grand Slam champions, the first women’s match to headline the Chatrier night session since 2023. Felix Auger-Aliassime and Frances Tiafoe chase the last-eight places in a wide-open men’s half. Below: yesterday’s results, today’s order of play, our best bets and the Day 9 acca.

Day 8 Results: Swiatek Stunned, Fonseca Into the Quarters
The upsets reached the four-time champion: Iga Swiatek was beaten 7-5, 6-1 by fellow Pole Marta Kostyuk, the Madrid champion producing the performance of her career to reach the quarter-finals. The men’s night session belonged to João Fonseca, who followed his win over Djokovic by beating Casper Ruud 7-5, 7-6(6), 5-7, 6-2 — the 19-year-old is into his first Grand Slam quarter-final. Alexander Zverev, the highest seed left, eased past Jesper De Jong, while Jakub Mensik knocked out 11th seed Andrey Rublev in five. Elina Svitolina came from a set down to beat Belinda Bencic, and Mirra Andreeva brushed past Jil Teichmann.

French Open Day 9 Best Bets
Auger-Aliassime to beat Tabilo
With Sinner, Djokovic and Shelton all gone, Felix Auger-Aliassime has one of the clearest paths to a maiden Roland-Garros semi-final. Chilean lefty Alejandro Tabilo is dangerous on his day but the 4-seed’s serve and recent five-set toughness make him the pick. Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win (around 1/2).
Tiafoe to beat Arnaldi
Frances Tiafoe is into back-to-back Roland-Garros fourth rounds for the first time. Matteo Arnaldi — a giant-killer who has already beaten Tsitsipas and Shelton this fortnight — is no gift, but Tiafoe’s power edges a tight one. Tip: Tiafoe to win (around 4/7).
Sabalenka v Osaka — the marquee
World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka dropped just one game in her last round and is the favourite, but Naomi Osaka — a four-time major champion rediscovering her best on clay — is the most dangerous floater left. The night session and a partisan crowd make this the watch of the day. Tip: Sabalenka to win (around 4/6).
French Open Day 9 Acca
Four top-half R16 picks, combined into one slip:
| Leg | Selection | Approx Odds |
| 1 | Felix Auger-Aliassime to win | 1/2 |
| 2 | Frances Tiafoe to win | 4/7 |
| 3 | Aryna Sabalenka to win | 4/6 |
| 4 | Anna Kalinskaya to win | evens |
Combined: around 7/1. Four days of seismic upsets — Sinner, Djokovic, Gauff, now Swiatek — mean nothing is bankable, and Sabalenka v Osaka is the genuine coin-flip of the four.
