Rather than pick against our own two, this backs both underdogs to make a contest of it. Karen Khachanov has won 15 sets and lost 3 this fortnight, the cleanest return of anyone left, and he has beaten Zverev twice at the Canadian Open. Frances Tiafoe has already come from two sets down once this week and beat Daniil Medvedev without dropping a set in the fourth round.

The long shot, and it has returned once all fortnight. Both of our picks have the serve to end a semi-final quickly, but neither has been tidy: Zverev needed five sets twice in the first week and Shelton has dropped five sets in five matches, more than anyone else left in the draw.
