The last four quarter-finals today, all on Arthur Ashe, so the slips stay short again. Three below.
Day 10 cost us all three slips, and the deciding leg was the tie of the round. Ben Shelton beat Carlos Alcaraz 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(7) to put the defending champion out, which killed the Favourites Slip with Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula already home. The Value Slip went with Alex Michelsen, two sets up on Frances Tiafoe and beaten in five. The Straight Sets Slip broke when Sabalenka dropped her second set. The Alcaraz leg was priced on court time and that read was simply wrong: Shelton had needed four sets in three of his four matches and won a five-setter anyway. Acca 1 — The Favourites Slip (3-fold)
The three where we are prepared to name a winner. Alexander Zverev is the last man from the top of the draw and meets an opponent who has played two five-setters back to back. Elena Rybakina has conceded 25 games in four matches, fewer than anyone left in either draw, and has not lost a set. Karen Khachanov is level with Alexander Blockx on sets and games, but he has been to this stage before and has already won a five-setter this fortnight.

Acca 2 — The Value Slip (2-fold)
Rather than pick against our own three, this one backs the two underdogs to make a contest of it. Zheng Qinwen has come from a set down in two of her four wins, including 1-6 against Madison Keys, so a set off Rybakina is well within her. Botic van de Zandschulp has been taken to five sets in each of his last two matches and won both, and Zverev has already dropped four sets this fortnight, two of them in tie-breaks.

Acca 3 — The Straight Sets Slip (2-fold)
The lottery ticket, and it has now lost six days running, which is roughly what a two-leg straight-sets bet deserves. Elena Rybakina has won all eight of her sets and Alexander Zverev has the bigger serve on a quick court, but he has needed five sets twice already.
