Acca 1 — The Seeds Slip (4-fold)
Four of the tournament’s heaviest favourites, all in first-round action. Carlos Alcaraz defends his title against a man ranked outside the world’s top 90; Aryna Sabalenka opens her bid for a third consecutive New York title against Camila Osorio; Iga Świątek takes the Armstrong night session against Xiyu Wang; and Ben Shelton has home advantage under the Ashe lights. None of the four should be troubled, which is exactly what you want from an opening-round slip — and exactly why the combined price is short.

Acca 2 — Straight Sets Sweep (3-fold)
The step up in price: back three of the day’s biggest mismatches to finish without a set dropped. Carlos Alcaraz has the game and the motivation to make a statement in his opening match, and a straight-sets win keeps him fresh for a demanding fortnight. Aryna Sabalenka rarely concedes sets to opponents outside the top 50 on hard courts. Iga Świątek is the most ruthless closer in the women’s game when she has a clear ranking edge. The risk is the obvious one — a single tie-break lost anywhere and the slip is gone.

Acca 3 — The Long-Shot (3-fold)
The occasion slip. Matteo Berrettini against 41-year-old Stan Wawrinka on Grandstand is the sentimental tie of the day — the 2016 champion, still swinging, against a former Wimbledon finalist whose body has finally allowed him a clear run. Add Arthur Fils, fresh from his first Masters 1000 title in Cincinnati, to take out Stefanos Tsitsipas in the pick of the round, and Karolína Muchová to come through in straight sets. Three results that are each defensible on their own; together they pay properly.
