Tuesday’s rain left all three of our Day 3 slips still alive, waiting on Alex de Minaur, Daria Kasatkina and Jan Choinski, all of whom play today.
Acca 1 — The Seeds Slip (4-fold)
Four second-round matches where the gap is wide. Carlos Alcaraz closes the Ashe night session against Jaime Faria, a qualifier ranked outside the top 100. Aryna Sabalenka opens it against Polina Iatcenko, also a qualifier. Daniil Medvedev plays the American wild card Sebastian Gorzny, and Andrey Rublev faces Daniel Merida having already survived a five-setter from two sets down. None of the four should need to be at their best.

Acca 2 — Straight Sets Sweep (3-fold)
The step up. Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka are both facing qualifiers and both have reason to keep the match short with a long fortnight ahead. Linda Nosková, the sixth seed and reigning Wimbledon champion, plays Lanlana Tararudee in the Armstrong night session and has the cleanest first strike of the three. The risk is the usual one: a single tie-break dropped anywhere and the slip is gone, and night-session matches are where that tends to happen.

Acca 3 — The British Slip (3-fold)
Five Britons play today and this is the optimistic reading of three of them. Katie Boulter against Karolína Muchová is the hardest of the three by some way, so she is here to take a set rather than the match. Jan Choinski completes his rain-delayed first round against Botic van de Zandschulp, who has beaten far better players than this on his day but has been inconsistent all summer. And Jacob Fearnley, who came from two sets to one down to win in four hours and 11 minutes on Monday, meets 27th seed Tomás Martín Etcheverry with the harder yards already behind him.
