Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will square off in the final of the 2021 Rome Masters today at 16.00 pm (UK Time).
Novak Djokovic has been struggling for consistency prior to the Rome Masters tournament, crashing out in the third round in Monte Carlo to Evans and in the Semi-finals in Belgrade to Karatsev. He began his Rome adventure with two consecutive 2-0 wins over Fritz and Davidovich Fokina, but had some tougher matches yesterday. He fought back from one set down to defeat Tsitsipas 2-1 in the quarter-finals and then needed another three sets to win over Sonego in the Semifinals.
Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal had some tricky opponents in the first three rounds such as Jannik Sinner, Denis Shapovalov, and Alexander Zverev, but surprisingly he had his easiest test in the Semi-finals against Reilly Opelka. Nadal dispatched the American in two sets and he has only lost one set throughout this Rome campaign., which was against Shapovalov.
