US Open 2026 Day 10 Predictions, Order of Play & Best Bets

A qualifier knocked Iga Świątek out of the US Open on Day 9, and she did it the same way she won her third-round match: from 5-0 down in the first set. Zheng Qinwen came through 7-5, 6-3 to become the first qualifier to beat Świątek at a Grand Slam, and she now meets Elena Rybakina for a semi-final place.

The quarter-finals start today, and the first four are all on Arthur Ashe. Carlos Alcaraz plays Ben Shelton in the pick of them, Aryna Sabalenka meets the Wimbledon champion Linda Nosková, and two of the four are all-American: Tiafoe against Michelsen, and Pegula against Navarro.

Day 9 Results: Zheng Stuns Świątek

The second half of the fourth round, in full.

Match Result Score
Zheng d. Świątek (8) Erased a 5-0 first-set deficit for the second match running 7-5, 6-3
Rybakina (2) d. Osaka (13) Still has not lost a set, and a two-time champion sent home 6-1, 6-4
Andreeva (5) d. Potapova (24) Came from a set down to reach the quarter-finals 5-7, 6-4, 6-3
Gauff (4) d. Jovic (14) The most straightforward win of the round 6-1, 6-4
Zverev (1) d. Darderi (21) The last high seed in the top half survives 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(3)
Khachanov d. Tien (14) Five sets, and a fourth-set 6-1 turned it 7-5, 4-6, 6-7(6), 6-1, 6-4
Blockx (28) d. Cerúndolo (24) Two 7-5 sets to close out a first Slam quarter-final 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5
van de Zandschulp d. Géa Two sets down, then three straight, the longest match of the day 3-6, 6-7(0), 7-6(7), 7-6(3), 6-4

How Day 9’s bets landed

Three from three on the named bets, the best day of the fortnight. Karen Khachanov came through five sets against Learner Tien, Elena Rybakina beat Naomi Osaka 6-1, 6-4 without trouble, and Botic van de Zandschulp recovered from two sets down against Arthur Géa to win the longest match of the day.

The Value Slip landed as well. It needed Khachanov, van de Zandschulp and Alexander Blockx, all three chosen on court time rather than seeding, and all three won. The Seeds Slip broke on Świątek, the one leg nobody had flagged, and the note on that slip pointed at Rybakina as the leg to drop, which was the wrong one. The Straight Sets Slip lost a fifth day running: Coco Gauff delivered her 2-0, Mirra Andreeva went three sets and Świątek lost.

US Open 2026 Day 10 order of play

All four of today’s quarter-finals are on Arthur Ashe. The day session starts at 5pm BST and the night session follows at midnight BST; the exact order is confirmed on the day.

Arthur Ashe Stadium

The other four quarter-finals are on Day 11: Alexander Zverev v Botic van de Zandschulp, Karen Khachanov v Alexander Blockx, Mirra Andreeva v Coco Gauff and Zheng Qinwen v Elena Rybakina.

Carlos Alcaraz v Ben Shelton

The tie of the round. Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion and a two-time winner here, and he has been the cleanest man in the draw: 12 sets won and one lost, 42 games conceded in four matches, fewer than anyone else still in the men’s event. The only set he has dropped was a 4-6 to Jaime Faria in the second round, and he beat 20th seed Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 to get here.

Ben Shelton has had the harder fortnight by a wide margin. He needed four sets in each of his first three matches, against Tallon Griekspoor, Hubert Hurkacz and Denis Shapovalov, and has conceded 65 games to Alcaraz’s 42. He was excellent in the fourth round, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, and the serve makes him dangerous over five sets on a quick court. The gap in court time is the argument against him.

Best bet: Carlos Alcaraz to win — priced up at Betway (approx odds).

Frances Tiafoe v Alex Michelsen

An all-American quarter-final, and the only man left in the draw who has not lost a set is the unseeded one. Alex Michelsen is 12-0 in sets with 43 games conceded, and the run includes 16th seed Brandon Nakashima and 27th seed Tomás Martín Etcheverry. This is his second Grand Slam quarter-final.

Frances Tiafoe has the bigger scalp and the harder road. He came through five sets against Martin Damm in the first round, then beat 22nd seed Valentin Vacherot and, in the best win of his fortnight, seventh seed Daniil Medvedev 7-6(1), 6-4, 7-6(6) without dropping a set. He has conceded 63 games to Michelsen’s 43. Tiafoe is the more proven player at this stage of a major; Michelsen is the one whose numbers say he belongs.

Best bet: Alex Michelsen to win — odds against at Betfred (approx odds).

Aryna Sabalenka v Linda Nosková

Aryna Sabalenka is the two-time defending champion and has not lost a set, conceding 22 games in four matches, fewer than anyone left in either draw. She beat Taylor Townsend 6-4, 6-3 in the fourth round and has not been taken past 6-4 in any set.

Linda Nosková arrives as the Wimbledon champion, which makes this the most interesting test Sabalenka has had. She has needed three sets twice, against 29th seed Ann Li and then 11th seed Marta Kostyuk 7-5, 5-7, 6-4, and has conceded 39 games. On this court and at this stage the cleaner run usually tells.

Best bet: Aryna Sabalenka to win — odds-on at William Hill (approx odds).

Jessica Pegula v Emma Navarro

The second all-American quarter-final. Jessica Pegula was runner-up here in 2024 and has dropped one set, a 1-6 opener against 31st seed Leylah Fernandez, before beating 16th seed Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 6-4. She has conceded 29 games.

Emma Navarro has the better wins. She beat seventh seed Karolína Muchová 6-3, 7-5 and then 21st seed Anna Kalinskaya 6-4, 6-2, two seeded scalps in a row, and survived a first-round match against Lois Boisson that went to two tie-breaks. She has conceded 41 games to Pegula’s 29, and Pegula is the more reliable server of the two.

No named bet on this one. Two Americans who know each other’s games well, and the prices are close enough that there is no edge worth taking.
