US Open 2026 Day 6 Predictions, Order of Play & Best Bets

The second round took three more seeds out and finished Britain’s tournament. Third seed Félix Auger-Aliassime lost 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to Karen Khachanov, sixth seed Alex de Minaur was beaten in straight sets by Botic van de Zandschulp, and 13th seed Lorenzo Musetti went out to Australian wild card Dane Sweeny. Eleven seeds have now gone from the men’s draw.

Britain has nobody left. Francesca Jones lost 6-4, 6-4 to 14th seed Iva Jovic and Harriet Dart was beaten 6-2, 6-2 by 25th seed Marie Bouzková, so both of the qualifiers who carried the flag into the second round are out. Every British man had already gone.

Coco Gauff came through the tie of the night, beating Paula Badosa 6-4, 7-6(5) to reverse a head-to-head that had gone against her twice in a row. Iga Świątek, Elena Rybakina, Naomi Osaka, Mirra Andreeva, Madison Keys, Amanda Anisimova and Alexandra Eala all won too, and Zheng Qinwen is through as a qualifier.

Top seed Alexander Zverev needed five sets and four hours 33 minutes to see off Quentin Halys 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-7(3), 6-3, a second marathon after his four-hour-53-minute opener. He meets Alejandro Tabilo in the third round.

Day 6 opens the third round with 16 matches. Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton headline Arthur Ashe, Aryna Sabalenka opens Louis Armstrong, and Stefanos Tsitsipas meets Jiří Lehečka late on the Grandstand.

How Day 5’s bets landed

Badly, and for the second day running. Félix Auger-Aliassime was our headline pick at around 2/5 and lost in four to Karen Khachanov, having taken the opening set. Paula Badosa was the value call against Coco Gauff on the strength of a head-to-head she led 5-3, and Gauff won it 6-4, 7-6(5). The Alexander Zverev leg did land, in five sets and four hours 33 minutes, so the named bets finished one from three.

All three slips are down. The Seeds Slip got three of its four legs home, Zverev, Iga Świątek and Elena Rybakina, and died on Alex de Minaur, who lost in straight sets to Botic van de Zandschulp; we had flagged that leg as the risk in the slip itself, which is small comfort. The Value Slip lost all three: Badosa, then Yulia Putintseva to Zheng Qinwen, then Tatjana Maria to Nikola Bartůňková. The British Slip needed Harriet Dart or Francesca Jones to take a set and neither did.

Two write-offs in two days is worth saying plainly rather than dressing up. Both slips leaned on short-priced seeds in a week when the seeds have been falling at an unusual rate: twelve are now out of the men’s draw alone.

  • Court 11, not before 9pm BST: [27] Tomás Martín Etcheverry v Mariano Navone
  • Stadium 17, not before 9:30pm BST: Alex Michelsen v Daniel Merida

Alex Michelsen v Daniel Merida

The tie of the round, and the one nobody had on their bracket. Alex Michelsen knocked out 16th seed Brandon Nakashima in straight sets and Daniel Merida beat 23rd seed Andrey Rublev from a set down for the first Grand Slam third round of his career. Neither has been past this stage at a major, and whoever wins reaches a last 16 in a quarter that has lost both of its top seeds. Michelsen is the more established of the two on hard courts and has the bigger serve; Merida showed against Rublev that he can absorb pace for four sets and keep his level in the fourth.

Best bet: Alex Michelsen to win — odds-on at Betway (approx, and this is the closest match on the card).

Ben Shelton v Denis Shapovalov

Their fifth meeting, under the lights on Ashe, and two of the biggest lefty serves in the draw. Ben Shelton needed four sets and a tie-break to get past Hubert Hurkacz in the second round; Denis Shapovalov has dropped one set in two matches and beat Luca Van Assche 6-0, 6-4, 7-6(7). Expect very few break points and at least one tie-break, which is the pattern of every match Shelton has played here. The crowd is worth a service game to him in New York, and his return is the better of the two.

Best bet: Ben Shelton to win — odds-on at William Hill (approx odds).

Stefanos Tsitsipas v Jiří Lehečka

The late one on the Grandstand, and a match between two players in better form than their seeding suggests. Stefanos Tsitsipas is unseeded here and has already beaten 10th seed Arthur Fils and come through Lloyd Harris in four; Jiří Lehečka is the 18th seed and has not dropped a set, beating Pablo Carreño Busta and then Toby Samuel 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. Lehečka’s flat hitting through the middle of the court is the more reliable weapon on a quick surface, and Tsitsipas has needed long matches to get here. Not before 10pm BST is also the kind of slot that punishes the player carrying more court time.

Best bet: Jiří Lehečka to win — priced up at Betfred (approx odds; the market makes this close to even).

US Open 2026 Day 6 acca

Four short prices from the opening day of the third round. Full reasoning and two alternative slips are in the US Open 2026 Day 6 acca tips.

Leg Selection Approx odds
1 Carlos Alcaraz to beat Yibing Wu Odds-on
2 Aryna Sabalenka to beat Kamilla Rakhimova Odds-on
3 Ben Shelton to beat Denis Shapovalov Odds-on
4 Daniil Medvedev to beat Arthur Rinderknech Odds-on

Carlos Alcaraz is the outright favourite at around 43% implied and has dropped one set in two matches. Aryna Sabalenka has conceded six games in two rounds. The soft leg is Daniil Medvedev, who has looked comfortable but faces a 26th seed in Arthur Rinderknech who took out Jaume Munar in straight sets. As on Day 5, we are quoting a number only where we can stand behind it; every leg here is odds-on and worth checking before you place anything.
